The ten acre Gooniplayam land was a barren land with no water and no electricity. The soil was gravel soil with numerous stones and pebbles.
Today after nearly 10 years the land is blossoming . Thanks to the blessing of the Gods , the land is now housing a Goshala having more than 30 `Indian native breed ( Kangeyan and Hallikar) cows` variety. Thousands of trees are planted and nurtured with drip irrigation. To improve water condition 3 water ponds have been dug.
A most significant contribution is nurturing of `NAKSHATRA VANAM` , having 27 Nakshatra trees, 12 Rasi trees and 9 Navagraha trees . Also in 3 acres of land, paddy and pulses are planted seasonally.
A nursery with saplings of rare plants and trees is available within the farms.
A one and half km motorable road is made for walking and cycling.
The journey was gradual and laborious . Myself Dr. Mrs . Rama Venkataraman is one of the chief architects aided by the family members and friends
Returning to Chennai after retirement, I was able to spend time and energy in converting this barren land into a useful one for the society growing valuable timber trees and sacred trees as well as, taking care of the precious and now getting extinct Deivika `nattu madus`, as per Mahaperiyavas request
I request all to participate in this venture generously and make it a place to visit, relax, enjoy and conduct events in the midst of nature.
